How to Refer a Student to Distance Learning Classes
1. Determine if an adult student is eligible for distance learning by completing an assessment.  Please review the Education Functioning Level (EFL) chart chart to help students to select the correct class.  Also, determine whether or not the student has the characteristics of a successful distance learner by using the
Distance Learning Project (DLP) Screening Guidelines with the him or her.

2. Direct the student to the Apply page to start an application.

3.  After the student has completed their application, login to the Online Application System to enter the student’s assessment scores into their application. You can fill out the form to create an account for the Online Application System if you do NOT have an account.

4. Advise the student to check their email to obtain a list of orientation activities they should complete prior to starting their distance class. If the student doesn’t receive this email, ask them to contact the DLP at 1-888-889-6020.  The DLP will orient the student and help them to prepare a career pathway plan, prior to starting their distance class. The DLP will work with the referral agency to support the distance student's success.
